Thando Nyameni

As a music business consultant, Thando Nyameni possesses an in-depth understanding of the music industry value chain, which he applies to assist musicians and music business practitioners in navigating the value chain. As the Managing Director of KUMISA, he is committed to fostering, developing, and guiding established and emerging artists' careers while ensuring that the local music industry supply chain is well-resourced with appropriate tools, legislation, and skills for economic growth.
Having received 18 years of experience across a variety of sectors, Thando Nyameni has acquired the aptitude, qualifications, and perspective needed to excel at the very top of any organisation. As an active leader, he fosters team building of corporate leaders and empowers team members within organisations.

Thando Nyameni holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from MANCOSA and has extensive governance experience, as well as a good understanding of the King IV Report on Corporate Governance. Prior to taking up an operational role as General Manager, Thando previously served on the board of KUMISA as Treasurer and Chairperson respectively, as well as many non-executive roles with organisations such as the KZN Society of Arts (KZNSA), the Durban International Blues Festival, KZN Cultural & Creative Industry Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA), and various other organisations.

In addition to this, he also served on the Honourable EDTEA MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube's KZN Covid-19 Economic Recovery Plan Think Tank (Creative Industries) in 2020 and on the Honourable EDTEA MEC Ravi Pillay's KZN Economic Council Social Compact Action Workgroup (Creative Industries) in 2021.

Currently, he sits on the Board and EXCO of Moshito Music Conference & Exhibitions, as well as on the Supervisory Committee of the South African Music Awards (SAMA)."
